The LASIK Procedure

The conventional LASIK sight correction operation commences with the cutting of a hinged corneal flap. After the eyeball is anaesthetised with topical eye-drops, the LASIK eye operating surgeon makes the flap on the external surface of the eyeball to display the underlying cornea. The flap may be made with a microkeratome (a handheld instrument) or with the IntraLase® optical maser, which permits the operating surgeon to make the flap employing a computer-guided laser.
